Researcher Position- Chitosan
The research group "Chitosan Metabolism" (https://www.chitoscience.com), integrated into the International University of Applied Sciences - FH Campus Wien, is looking for a highly motivated researcher to strengthen the team.
The project is carried out in collaboration with an Austria-based startup that aims to integrate bioconversion process technology from Black Solder Fly origins (at laboratory scale) into their circular process through the production of chitosan.
Candidates should have a very strong background in biochemistry and/or biotechnology. Knowledge of analytical skills is an advantage. Interest in working with biopolymers is paramount. The focus is on process optimization using enzymatic/chemical methods to ameliorate chitosan extraction. Since this is a follow-up position, several of the critical steps are already set.
Start: from February 15, 2022 - Duration: 1 year (FFG Bridge project), extension via follow-up projects possible. Full time employment: 39 hours / week. Your profile:
- Completed doctorate studies in biochemistry-biotechnology or/master studies with in-depth knowledge in the field of biochemistry or a related discipline (strong biochemical background and work experience with microorganisms)
- Strong background in advanced protein biochemistry, applied enzymology and enzymatic reactions (process research and development)
- Experience with (bio-)analytical methods to track substrates or products
- Experience in project management and presentations and collaboration with industry partners (defined goals)
- Experience in publishing activities
- Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured and responsible way of working
- Very good written and spoken German and/or English skills, very good communication and teamwork skills
