At New Path Bio we design novel yeast strains able to produce alternative food proteins from CO2-derived substrates without the use of animals, plants, chemicals and other agricultural resources. New Path Bio is looking for research associates experience to join our strain engineering team in Vienna, Austria.

You will make an impact by developing novel microbial strains, investigating new gene and protein expression strategies, contributing to New Path Bio’s metabolic engineering platform and collaborating with colleagues within the molecular biology team and our associated academic laboratories. You will conduct exciting research central to producing food proteins in a sustainable manner.

The open positions provide an opportunity for receiving mentorship from experienced scientists across several disciplines, including molecular biology, metabolic engineering, protein engineering  and fermentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute experiments focused on molecular cloning, protein expression and metabolic engineering as part of the synthetic biology and strain engineering teams
• Improve upon existing expression systems using our current strain engineering approaches and develop new methodologies for protein expression
• Collect, analyze and present data to internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Support all lab operations as required.

Requirements:

• BSc with at least 2 years of work experience, Master's degree or PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related life science discipline
• Experience in cloning, protein expression, and analysis of recombinant proteins.
• Strong scientific interest, solid planning and reasoning skills, and accuracy.
• A positive, open, and intellectually curious team player
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Work experience in an industrial setting is a plus
